Overall, I would call this a successful school year. I got a new job that works really well for me and that I can continue to work at this summer and next school year, I repeated and mastered classes I had previously struggled with, I made the Dean's List one semester, I didn't kill any of my roommates, and I made lots of new friends that I love! I have also grown up a lot and experienced some valuable good and bad times.
pretty flowers blooming on a tree on campusI found this poem on another blog that I occasionally read. I thought it was fantastic and wanted to share it. This poem talks about something that I constantly have to remind myself to do: take risks! It's okay to take risks. Sometimes, it's necessary for growth and progression. Here it is:
TO RISK
To laugh is to risk appearing the fool.
To weep is to risk appearing sentimental.
To reach out is to risk involvement,
to expose feelings is to risk exposing your true self
To place your ideas and
dreams before a crowd is to risk their loss
To love is to risk not being loved in return,
To live is to risk dying,
To hope is to risk despair,
To try is to risk failure.
But risks much be taken because
the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
The person risks nothing, does nothing,
has nothing, is nothing.
